I had to look up the definition. My husband thought it was a Dr. Who reference, which it is, but it\u2019s also one of many sexual identities of which my peers and I are likely ignorant.<\/p>\n<p>A later conversation with my daughter resulted in more homework. Words like \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/demisexuality.org\/articles\/what-is-demisexuality\/\" target=\"_blank\">demisexual<\/a>,\u201d and \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.asexuality.org\/wiki\/index.php?title=Heteroromantic\" target=\"_blank\">heteroromantic<\/a>\u201d were foreign to me. Apparently these terms are being discussed among her classmates. I told her that most of my counterparts probably wouldn\u2019t know what they meant either. \u201cYou\u2019re from a different generation,\u201d she oh so kindly explained.<\/p>\n<p>Ouch.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a different world now, that\u2019s for sure. I applaud their knowledge and openness, and hope that this will increase self-awareness and confidence.<\/p>\n<p>While my daughter may not know who (the <a href=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/2773\/111\/1600\/Holly.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">original<\/a>) <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Holly_Hobbie\" target=\"_blank\">Holly Hobbie<\/a> is (hello, childhood bedroom wallpaper!), at least she\u2019ll be familiar with <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jack_Harkness\" target=\"_blank\">Captain Jack Harkness<\/a>.
