Last night I felt a little off, like I had a temperature. Sure enough, the thermometer showed a low-grade fever. Since I\u2019m supposed to call the doctor if it\u2019s above 100.1, and I\u2019m a rule follower, we placed a call to the on call doctor at the Women\u2019s Cancer Clinic. I also took a rapid test, which was negative. The first time I took my temperature, it was 100.4. When I did it a second time to confirm the result, it was 100.3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After waiting a while, the doctor called. She assessed the situation and then wanted to look at my chart and labs. When done, she said she wasn\u2019t too worried because I didn\u2019t have any other symptoms. I took my temperature again, which was lower, but I had just brushed my teeth. She said to just take Tylenol and listed symptoms to be concerned about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thankfully, this morning, my temperature was normal!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In other news, a friend my age texted me today that she got her first mammogram because of me. \u201cI wanted to thank you for being so open with your story,\u201d she wrote. \u201cYour words made an impact on me, and I\u2019m glad I finally did it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If you haven\u2019t had a mammogram yet, I recommend not scheduling it near your period, and taking ibuprofen beforehand. Be prepared as it\u2019s not just an x-ray – your boobs will get squished. It might hurt, but it\u2019ll be fast! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
