To answer some questions I’ve received:
Yes, breast conservation is another term for lumpectomy. I don’t know why the doctor never uttered the L word.
Why not have the surgery now? There are a couple of reasons I can think of: because I’m triple negative, the cancer is aggressive. We want to kill it as quickly as possible. Being triple negative also means that we don’t know what will work, so chemo has to be tried first. Hopefully Taxol will be as effective as A/C. The doctor is expecting there to be very little to nothing left by the time of surgery, which should help with getting clean margins around the area.
My days with eyebrows and eyelashes appear to be limited. I noticed this week that my eyebrows are slowly disappearing, and most of my lower eyelashes are gone. The hair loss stops for some people on Taxol, but that’s unpredictable.

Oh, I was wondering about this too.
Hi Lisa, thanks for answering the questions I had regarding your situation. I was wondering why they didn’t remove the whole damn thing right from the start snd provide chemo to prevent further growth. But now I understand. Let’s hope your hair loss will slow down during Taxol treatment 🙏🏼🤞🏼🙏🏼🤞🏼
lisa ~ thank you for explaining the logic behind the chemo first, surgery later course of treatment. i was unaware of the different types of breast cancer; never even heard of tripe negative before. meanwhile….so glad the treatment appears to working in the best way possible for you. hope this minimizes the severity of the surgery & future treatment. hopefully your recovery from this harrowing journey/nightmare will be quick & back to your old, young self. and you like your new hair. btw, how did you resolve the head covering issue? what finally worked for you? pictures perhaps?
The head covering issue is still frustrating! Hats are easier, but it’s been hard to find ones I like!
Thinking of you. So much luck and strength to you on your upcoming surgery and of course if you can’t use your right arm afterwards, don’t blog! 🙂
